HOOTC SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Welcome to the Hamilton Out of the Cold Newsletter
As the fall season begins, we’re looking ahead to the winter months and preparing to serve our neighbours with dignity, compassion, and care. In this issue, we share an urgent call for a new meal site in downtown Hamilton, celebrate the generosity of our supporters and partners, and honour the lives of those remembered through memorial gifts.
Together, with your help, we continue to change the face of hunger in Hamilton
one meal, one connection, and one act of kindness at a time.

“Head Over to Homeless Cars”
100% of all donations stay in Ontario (including Hamilton Out of the Cold) and Winnipeg. With 70 years experience in recycling cars, there is no better foundation to turn donated cars into valuable dollars to help the homeless and food insecure. We value our donors and the important role they play in the lives we wish to help. We will serve each and every one of our donors as our most important.
In our 28th year, we celebrate the tireless efforts of our incredible volunteers, the privilege of serving our deserving guests in the Hamilton area and our supportive donors who help us to continue to provide this much needed nourishment.

We are proud to celebrate 28 years of service in the Hamilton community. HOOTC was established in December 1997 at James St. Baptist Church by two retired teachers, Gloria Colizza and Sister Carole Anne Guay. From its humble beginning of offering one meal to one single guest on its first night, HOOTC has grown to a program serving 33,518 hot meals in 2024-2025.
Our mission is to provide hot, nutritious meals for those in need in the Hamilton community. Served with dignity and compassion, HOOTC is a volunteer based, low barrier program sustained by donations of both money and food from foundations, local groups, businesses and individuals.
